NPO organization, JES, is a body to bring up required talents and to provide information concerning Ecotourism in order to drive it in sound development.
The goal
With maintaining the natural environment of local and historical culture, Ecotourism has kept on stimulating regional invigoration continuously. Such activity has been drawn attention rapidly in Japan and global scale as the tourism in the 21st century.
In order for a sound progress of Ecotourism, it is needed not only the spreading Ecotourism in depth, but also exchanging the opinions among tourist industry, tourists, local administrators, and researchers. While, extremely important thing is to share the result of such activities.
JES has been organised as a place to exchange opinions of concerned parties continuously on the basis for the goal. And JES has been active to enlighten people and progress Ecotourism.
Purpose of the activity

- To encourage more tourists and to stimulate the region.
- The social contribution for ecology and culture by sightseeing.
History
- Founded as “Ecotourism Promotion Conference” in March 25th, 1998
- It renamed to “Japan Ecotourism Society” in July 2002 after a certain recognition of Ecotourism.
- Our society was approved as a specified nonprofit corporation (NPO) by the Cabinet office in Feb. 2003.
- Registration number 2-6622, The governor of Tokyo registered travel agent in Feb. 2013.

Message from President
The 21st century has usually been stated a era of environment. While, a tourism is to experience different natural features and to enjoy the regional peculiar nature and culture. In the modern society, it has become an indispensable part of individual life for those of who pursue self-fulfillment.
“Japan Ecotourism Society” (the former Ecotourism Conference) is founded as a place to meet all concerned parties including tourists, local residents, researchers, travel agents and the local administrators aiming at further development with a harmony of environmental issue and people’ s desire. We are welcome of your participation whoever you may be an individual or an organization.
